Tuesday's Dreams: I Become Data!
Three different dreams. In the first one I was some sort of detective investigating the robbery of prescription drugs from some sort of medical facility. Possible reasons for this dream: I'm currently writing a story about a private eye and its told in the first person, so I can see how I'd see myself as a detective in a dream.
As far as the medical aspects of the dream, I watched HOUSE, MD last night, so that probably explains it.
The second dream was kind of bizarre. I was watching a STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION episode on tv. In it, Data was sent to modern day Atlantic City. He was walking alone on the boardwalk. At that point in the dream, I actually became Data on the boardwalk. Three guys appeared out of nowhere and attacked me with baseball bats and other things. What was incredibly cool though is that since I was a robot, they weren't able to actually hurt me. I beat the hell out of them up and went on my way.
Then I was suddenly myself again and out to dinner with my entire family at some really huge restaurant in New Jersey. There was a rock band playing there and I seemed to be friends with the lead singer.
I'm not sure about that last part of the dream, but I think I can figure out the Data stuff. Not long before I went to sleep, I watched BOSTON LEGAL. Since William Shatner is on that show, that could explain the STAR TREK connection. Later on, I watched the local news and there was some sort of story about something going on in Atlantic City. I guess that explains why Data (me) was there.
As for those clowns attacking me (they weren't actual clowns, but that would have been cool)I have no idea.

Monday Night: Two Dreams
I can only remember two of them. One is easy to figure out, the other isn't.
The one that isn't involved one of the buildings at one of the Dupont sites I used to work at. But instead of being a Dupont building it was now some sort of nursing home. I'm not sure if I was working there or just visiting a friend who worked there.
The other dream involved me and my friend Leah hanging out together at some music store. I was looking for and found some obscure cds by The Knack and some other acts from the 80s.
Right before I went to sleep that night, I was listening to some Counting Crows songs. Leah and I aren't particularly close and we never really spend time together, but we're both big fans of Counting Crows. I think that explains why she showed up in that dream. As for my mission to find music from the 80s, well, that's no big shocker. That's my favorite era for music.

Those Damned Geico Commercials With The Cavemen In Them
Okay, I'm curious, does anyone think those commercials are funny? Geico's made around five of those commercials now and I just don't see what's so great about them.
Yeah, the cavemen are bitter. I get it, Geico. I just don['t think it's all that hilarious.

Saturday's Dreams
(Note: Sorry it took until today to post this. I couldn't connect to this site last night. Sunday's Dreams will be posted later today also.)
It was a pretty interesting night of dreams. The dreams involved a lot of travel, though both places and time.
Here's what I thought were the most significant things in the dreams and what I think they meant.
THE DREAMS
1. I was alone and driving through areas that were totally unfamiliar to me. It seemed like I was far away from anywhere I've ever before and I was a bit lost, but I was enjoying myself.
2. Later in the dream, I was on a vacation trip with my family. Everyone was their current age, but it was just like our vacation trips when I was a kid. In the dream, we were going to visit The White House.
3. While waiting to get into The White House, a cowboy and I got talking. He asked what my dreams for my life had been when I was a kid. I told him I had wanted to be an actor and he told me I should still go for it.
4. Next we were all at a birthday party for my cousin Chrissy. She looked to be about 2 or 3 years old.
INTERPRETATIONS OF THE ABOVE
1. I need to go off in new directions in my life that I've never taken before.
2. I think this one just reminded me how much fun we used to have on vacations when I was a kid. Also, one of my favorite vacations from back then was when we spent a week in Washington, DC, so it makes sense that I'd try to recreate that in a dream.
3. I really did want to be an actor when I was young. I did end up acting in several local plays but I haven't done any acting in over ten years. I just sort of lost interest in it. Maybe it's something I need to look into doing again. Then again, maybe the dream meant that I should go for whatever my dreams are.
4. No big mystery on this one. Saturday was actually Chrissy's birthday. She just turned 26, but earlier in the day I had seen pictures of her as a small child.
By the way, Happy Belated Birthday, Chrissy.

Sunday Night's Dreams And A Question For You
I've already forgotten big chunks of the dreams, but here's what I remember:
I was unemployed and was visiting where I used to work, Pitney Bowes. What was strange is that the building wasn't the actual building where I used to work. Also, the people that I saw there were not only former co-workers of mine, but also people I work with at my current job and people I worked with many years ago at an earlier job.
One of the workers there was a woman I work with now and she was sort of coming onto me. The thing is, she was already involved with a sort-of friend of mine who I'm pretty sure she doesn't know in real life. We did some mild flirting with each other, but that was it.
After I left the building, I started to walk home. I was walking around the streets of my childhood home (where I haven't lived for over 20 years) and I heard some voices across the street. It was three women who I worked with in the late 1980s and they were talking about me, saying they thought I was cute and a really nice guy. I yelled over a "Hello" to them and they didn't seem to notice I was there. I said something else and they ignored that, too. It was like I was a ghost or something.
Kind of odd dreams that I can't figure out.
Anyway, here's my questions for you: In your dreams, do you often dream of your spouse/significant other or are you single in your dreams?
I ask this because I've never been one to have a lot of dreams about whoever I've been involved with. Not that I've been going to wild orgies or anything like that in my dreams, cheating, or anything else along those lines. No matter how in love I am with someone, I usually don't dream about them.
How about you?

Analyzing My Dreams (Alternate Title: Let's See How Screwed Up In The Head Buddy Really Is)
The whole dreaming process is pretty fascinating. Most experts seem to agree that they know little about how dreaming actually works, but there are a lot of people who think that all dreams mean something.
Some people say they hardly ever dream or barely remember their dreams at all. Personally, I dream a lot. I can take a ten minute nap and have dreams. Do I always remember them? No, of course not. Most of them fade away not long after I wake up.
I thought it might be kind of interesting to make notes of my dreams for a week and then try to determine what, if anything, they might mean. I'll start with what I dreamt last night and then I'll do the same each day here this week.
Since most of you probably don't give a crap what my dreams are, I don't expect many comments on these upcoming postings. However, like always, I'm interested in reading what you write here, so please comment if you want to.
Also (AND THIS MIGHT BE FUN!) if you'd like to, please go ahead and play along and share your dreams and what you think they might mean.
I'll post last night's dreams/meanings a little later today...

Van Halen, Baby!
I just heard on the radio that Van Halen are going to be doing a tour with David Lee Roth back in the band.
Yes!!!
Nothing against Sammy Hagar, but I always preferred Diamond Dave over him. A lot of the music the band made with Sammy was very good, but to me it lacked the magic they had with Dave.
I heard that Michael Anthony isn't going to be with the band on this tour. Apparently, Eddie Van Halen's teenage son Wolfgang is going to be taking over the bass duties. I'm a little weary of this, but he must be good if Eddie's letting him be in the band.
Anyway, I'm excited about this. Hopefully Dave's and Eddie's egos and previous problems with each other won't get in the way and prevent this reunion from happening.
So, I bet you know where this post is going. If you're a regular reader of this blog, you know my next question to you will be:
What's your favorite song(s) by Van Halen?

Idiots In Shopping Center Parking Lots
Why is it that so many people drive and park like total idiots in shopping center parking lots? It's as if all laws and all common courtesies are thrown out the window in those places.
I've noticed that it's especially bad in shopping centers where there are grocery stores. People ignore stop signs, speed through the lots like they're on an interstate highway, take up more than one parking spot with their vehicles, etc.
And it's not only drivers who act like idiots in those places. Pedestrians walk out into the roadways and lots as if they're just strolling through a park. I know that pedestrians officially have the right of way, but a lot of them don't even look where they're going.
Grrr...people drive me crazy sometimes.

State Of The Union Tonight
Grrr...I keep getting more and more frustrated and depressed with Bush and how things have been going in Iraq. I hope things start to get better soon.
I'm working tonight, so I'll miss out on watching Bush on tv. Part of me wants to watch it, but part of me can barely stand watching him at all.
What a mess he's made of things. I'll be so glad when 2009 gets here and we have a new president.

Watch SCRUBS Tonight - It's Going To Be A Musical!
For a couple of years I've read that the producers and cast of SCRUBS have wanted to do an all musical episode. Well, they've finally made it and it's on tonight at 9 PM on NBC.
From the previews I've seen, it looks pretty damned good!
Be sure to check it out if you're a fan of the show. Yes, I know that the incredibly popular GREY'S ANATOMY (which I like) and CSI (which I've only watched once) are on at the same time as SCRUBS, but that's why God made devices like vcrs and dvrs.

And The Lamb Lies Down...On This Week's Musical Question
There's been talk lately that Genesis might do a reunion tour. I've always liked them a lot but I've never seen them live. I hear they used to put on fantastic concerts.
So, this leads me to ask...
What's your favorite song(s) by Genesis?
I'm not talking Phil Collins' solo stuff here, so please just list Genesis songs.

A Great TV Show: Boston Legal
Have you been watching BOSTON LEGAL? If you haven't been, then you've been missing out on one of the best shows on television.
The show's got a little bit of everything: great comedy, great drama, some very clever and quirky storylines, etc.
Plus, it features a fantastic cast. James Spader and William Shatner are awesome on this show! The way these two guys play off of each other is a LOT of fun to watch.
So...watch the show! It's on every Tuesday night at 10 PM on ABC.

A Great Posting
I'll regularly have postings now that begin with "A Great..." something or other. It might be a song, album, musical artist, TV show, movie, etc.
Most of my more popular postings here have revolved around pop culture so I think this will be a fun direction to go with the site.

Can Anyone Tell Me Why Mike Delfino Is In Jail?
Maria and I watched DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES last night. We'd missed a couple of episodes and were surprised and confused when we saw that Mike Delfino was in jail.
Why is he in there? Someone please fill me in.

Okay, Obviously Not Enough Of You Did The "Sing-Along With Bud Gott" Thing On Saturday
Yeah, the Eagles lost Saturday night. It was a little depressing but not too devastating. They put up a good fight and it turned out to be a damned good game.
I guess I'll be rooting for the Saints now. Like my friend Larry said the other night, "If the Eagles had to lose, I want them to have lost to the best."

Blacks Vs. African-Americans!
Despite the somewhat silly subject title of this posting, I'm seriously confused sometimes as to what I should be calling blacks/African-Americans.
Throughout most of my childhood, "black" was the proper term to use. Later, of course, "African-American" seemed to be the proper "politically correct" thing to say.
The thing is, even blacks/African-Americans seem to differ on the subject. I once read an interview with actor Danny Glover in which he stated that he hated being called an African-American. I'm paraphrasing here, but he said something along the lines of, "I wasn't born in Africa. I was born here in America. I'm black - not an African-American."
I also recently saw a clip of an old black comedian saying, "When I was a kid I was a negro. Then I was colored and then I was black and then I was African-American. That's too many words. I'm not sure WHAT the hell I am anymore."
For me, my thing is that I don't want to offend anyone. For example, we have two guys at work named Jerry. One is white and one is black/African-American. The other day, I was looking for one of them and asked a black/African-American guy if he had seen Jerry. I said Jerry's last name, but the guy didn't know them buy their last names. I was about to say I was looking for the African-American Jerry, but then the guy said, "White Jerry or black Jerry?"
So, see? I'm confused. I tried to use the latest "politically correct" words and it seems like that would have been the wrong way to go.
So, what do you all think about this? White, black, African-American, Latino - I don't care who you are or what race you are, just share your thoughts/opinions on this. Thanks.

M*A*S*H!!!
One of my favorite shows ever is M*A*S*H. The cable channel TV LAND just acquired the show. If you're a M*A*S*H fan, then you should definitely check out the channel this week. They're airing min-marathons of the show each night.
Although I enjoyed the series for its entire run, my favorite episodes are the ones with Trapper John and Henry Blake. Those first few seasons of the show were fantastic.

New Year, New Settings Here
First of all - Happy New Year to you all!
Blogger/Blogspot has undergone some changes recently. If any of you find you're having any problems accessing this site, please let me know.
There are some new settings/features available to me on here now. I'm not sure if I'll make any major changes to the site, but I doubt I will.
One change that I have made though is that from now on all comments will have to be approved by me before they actually post on the site. So, don't feel you've made an error if you don't see your comments appear on the site directly after you leave them. I just need to approve them first.
I still want everyone to feel free to leave comments (please, leave comments!) but I've had a few instances on here recently where there have been some spam postings and even some vulgar postings. By "moderating" the comments I should be able to avoid those problems in the future.
Also, I know I've sort of sucked recently with doing updates here. Sorry about that. I intend to be a lot more active here from now on.
One last thing...I encourage all of my friends to frequently check out my Myspace page. I tend to update that place a little more frequently than I update this place. You don't need to have a myspace account to visit my site, but you should consider getting one. Myspace is really a very fun place to connect with your friends at. Plus, it's free, so there's nothing to lose.
