Excuse Me While I Google Myself...
Have you ever Googled yourself? Have you been surprised what you've found or not found?
If I Google "Bud Gott," I usually find links to my reviews on Amazon.com and other places, entries from my own various websites, and comments I've left on other people's sites.
What I think is funny is that the thing that shows up the most is the review I did on Amazon.com for the movie Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo. It was a very tongue-in-cheek review, but it's been linked to by several dozen sites other than Amazon. Too funny.
By the way, in case you've never seen my reviews on Amazon, there's a link to them on the right side of the screen. I haven't reviewed there too much lately, but I reviewed a David Hasselhoff single there not too long ago.

Bush, Stem Cell Research, and NASA
President Bush makes me so mad sometimes. Yesterday he vetoed Congress' bill to ease federal limits on embryonic stem cell research.
I just don't get it. So much could be accomplished through stem cell research, including the possible cures for cancer, diabetes, and Parkinson's Disease, and many other medical conditions. Countless people's lives could be improved through the results of the research.
But, no, I guess it's better to spend billions of the tax payers' dollars on other things like going to the moon again. Bush got all excited about that idea when NASA said they wanted to do it.
Gee, help me remember here, but haven't we already been to the moon? Oh yeah, we have. But golly, it sure would be neat for us to go back there again, huh?
Why put all that money into something we've already done before instead of doing other more useful things like oh, I don't know, maybe curing diseases and saving people's lives?

This Week's Musical Question...
With their recent #1 hit "Who Says You Can't Go Home," Bon Jovi have proven again that they have incredible staying power in the music industry.
I've been a fan of theirs since their first album back in the 80s. I own all but one of their cds.
So, this all leads me to this week's question:
What's your favorite song (or songs) by Bon Jovi?

Shine On You Crazy Diamond
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was announced today that Pink Floyd co-founder Syd Barrett has died at the age of 60. Syd was brilliant but his problems with drugs messed him up to the point that he left the band after their first album. He later did a couple of solo albums which were pretty good but his personal problems got worse and worse and he soon dropped out of the music scene entirely. By a lot of accounts, Syd was pretty much crazy from his earlier drug useage. Very sad.
As sort of a tribute to Syd, Pink Floyd later did the song "Shine On You Crazy Diamond."
SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND
"Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom, blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter, come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision, rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions, come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!
Nobody knows where you are, how near or how far.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Pile on many more layers and I'll be joining you there.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
And we'll bask in the shadow of yesterday's triumph, and sail on the steel breeze.
Come on you boy child, you winner and loser,
come on you miner for truth and delusion, and shine!"
Rest in peace, Syd. Shine on...

Superman Returns
Well, I've already seen SUPERMAN RETURNS twice. I loved it.
I'm a huge fan of SUPERMAN and SUPERMAN 2 (which is one of the rare sequels that is actually better than the original.) The third movie was okay but it was a little too silly in parts. As for the 4th one, it had some okay parts in it but overall it wasn't very good.
SUPERMAN RETURNS, from what I've read, picks up Superman's story 5 or so years after SUPERMAN 2 (and ignores the 3rd and 4th parts.) You don't need to have seen the originals to follow this new movie, but there are little references in it for fans of the old movies.
So, if you're a fan of the first two SUPERMAN movies, or if you just want to see a damned good movie this Summer, definitely check out SUPERMAN RETURNS.

On The Boats And On The Planes, They're Comin' To America!

In the spirit of the holiday...
What are your favorite American-themed songs?
Personally, I love Neil Diamond's "America." It always makes me feel good when I hear it.
Another great one is Whitney Houston's live version of "The Star Spangled Banner."
