John Roberts, New Chief Supreme Court Guy
I didn't follow the whole deal with Roberts getting appointed Chief Justice, but my question is...how can someone who wasn't even on the Supreme Court before now be the person who runs it? Really, it doesn't seem fair to the other judges who have been there for awhile, and some of them have been there for a very long time.
Maybe Roberts is the most qualified for the job, but...nah, that can't be the case since he's brand new to the Supreme Court.
I just don't get it. Gee, George W. Bush doing something questionable that doesn't seem to make much sense - there's something new!

Get Lost Tonight
Do any of you watch LOST? I only saw a little bit of it last season, but now I'm hooked on it. The 2nd season premiere last week was awesome.
If you missed that premiere, ABC is rerunning it tonight at 8 p.m., right before a brand new episode of the show. If you're not already a fan of the show, I bet you will be if start watching it. It's addicting.

Tennessee Tuxedo, R.I.P.
Don Adams, best known for the hilarious t.v. show GET SMART, passed away a few days ago. I haven't seen GET SMART in years, but I loved watching it when I was a kid.
I also loved the cartoon TENNESSEE TUXEDO when I was a kid. What's funny is that I remember very little about it now, even though I used to watch it every morning. I do remember that T.T.'s sidekick's name was Chumley, but that's about it. T.T. (in case I've been spelling Tennessee wrong) was a penguin and Chumley was a walrus (I think.)
Anyway, Don Adams did the voice for T.T. When I was in grade school I used to crack my friends up with my impression of T.T. I swore then that I sounded identical to Don Adam's voice, although in retrospect, I doubt that was really true.
Then again, maybe I did. After all, I was a pretty talented kid. Just ask my Mom. She'll say so, too.
So, I was sorry to hear of Don Adam's passing. Not only did he crack me up on GET SMART but I've also got fond memories of his voicing Tennessee Tuxedo. Rest in peace, Mr. Adams.

Some stuff about this site
Hello citizens.
Just wanted to tell you some things about this site, in case you didn't know about them (and even if you do know about them.)
To the right of the screen you'll see some links. The first one is for my reviews on Amazon.com. I've reviewed a lot of things there: music, movies, books, power tools, foods, etc. A lot of my reviews are intended to be very sarcastic (like all the ones where I rave about rap albums) but quite a few are serious reviews about things I love or hate. I just added some more reviews yesterday and I intend to add more within the next few days (and weeks, and months, etc.) Check 'em out if you like.
Also on the right of the screen you'll see links for my original two websites. Buddy's World is where I've got lots of pictures of me, family, and friends. Also there are links to sites from friends of mine, my infamous (like El Guapo) Random Thoughts columns, my music page, and a lot of other things.
The other site of mine listed is Buddy's Blog-O-Rama, which was my original blog page. Most of you have already been there, but those of you who haven't may be interested in seeing it. There's over a year's worth of my thoughts, silliness, ramblings, and other things there.
Enough about that stuff, but on now to other stuff.
Also on the right side of the screen you'll see the archives for this here site. Click on a month and you can check out the blogs for that month. Easy enough.
Finally, please feel free to leave your comments here. I love how so many people have been commenting on my entries here. It really adds to the fun I have of doing this site.
If you leave comments, you have the options of signing your (or any) name, signing with your blogger identity (if you have one,) or commenting anonymously. I'd prefer if people didn't do the anonymous thing, but I suppose I can see the appeal in it. I just sort of like to know who's visiting me here. Still, since I appreciate getting the comments, sign/comment however you like to. I'm just glad you're here.
And that's the big thing: thank you for being here. I appreciate it!!!

Bud Gott - The Sleep King!
I decided to take a nap after dinner yesterday. That was around 6 p.m.
I didn't wake up from my "nap" until after 8 a.m. this morning. That's around 14 hours of sleep! I can't remember the last time I slept for that long a period of time.
Of course, on the two prior nights I averaged only 4-5 hours of sleep each night. I guess my body needed more than that and it finally caught up with me.
Oh, well. I feel pretty damned good right now, that's for sure!

God's Revenge?
Someone close to me recently said he thought that Hurricane Katrina may have been God's revenge on America for the war in Iraq.
I initially didn't think much about it, but now that I'm seeing all the reports on how bad Hurricane Rita will probably be, the "God's revenge" thoughts have popped back into my head.
Two of the worst hurricanes in history in the U.S. in just a matter of weeks. Yes, I know it's Hurricane Season...and yes, I know the idea seems very far-fetched...but still, it is a scary thought.
I'm not a very political person. I'm also not an overly religious person. I never had previously considered the idea that God might get angry about some political thing, war, etc. and then inflict his wrath upon whomever he's mad at. Of course, we all know the 40 days/40 nights story though.
I'm not saying that's what happened with Katrina or is currently happening with Rita. I just..you know what? I don't even want to think about it anymore. Too scary of an idea...

The Last Day Of Summer
Even though it unofficially ended with Labor Day, today is the official last day of Summer. Kind of a downer, isn't it?
Don't get me wrong. I love the Fall. I'm also okay with Winter (except for when the roads get icy and you have to deal with people who don't know how to drive under those conditions.)
I just love the Summer.
This Summer was pretty good for me. Not fantastic, but still pretty good. I'm going to have some nice memories from this Summer but I wish I had a few more exceptional things to remember from it.
Well, this day's only halfway over. Maybe I'll go and do something extra-memorable this afternoon. Walk on the beach, climb a mountain, rob a bank, or something along those lines.
Great. Now if there's any bank robberies in my area today one of you is going to finger me for it...

Quick Fiction On Crack
It was a dark and stormy night in the pitfires of Hell. Alas, it was always dark and stormy in the pitfires of hell. Well, except for the parts of hell in which deceased weathermen were sentenced to serve out eternity. Those parts had no precipitation at all. That drove the weathermen crazy.
Lucifer was walking along with his wife Bonita. She was tall and beautiful. She looked like a mixture of Raquel Welch, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Tyne Daly. Yes, even with looking a bit like Tyne Daly, she was still beautiful.
"Lucy, it sure is a glorious night," she said to her husband.
"It is, but how many times have I told you not to call me 'Lucy?' It's Lucifer. L-u-c-i-f-e-r. Lucifer."
"Oh, Lucy. Don't be such a pooh."
He could only be so mad at her. He loved when she quoted lines from Sixteen Candles. It was his favorite Molly Ringwald movie. He had bestowed Molly and her acting career upon the Earth. He and Molly had been lovers in the 1980s.
Lucifer was heart-broken when Molly cheated on him with the guy who played Long Duk Dong. Because of this affair, he caused Long Duk Dong's career to go in the toilet. Then he put Molly's career in the toilet next to Dong's toilet. The toilet across from their toilets contained the career of the guy who played Screech on Saved By The Bell, but that's a different story.
Lucifer gazed at his wife and noticed the parts of her that looked like Tyne Daly. He suppressed his urge to vomit and kissed her anyway. They continued walking through the pitfires of Hell when Buddy Gott realized it was almost time to leave for work. When he signed onto his blog page he had no idea what he was going to write. He just sat there and typed whatever came into his head. Then he stopped typing and it looked something like this...

A Great Weekend
My job was really starting to get on my nerves towards the end of last week, so I was very much looking forward to the weekend. I actually had off both Saturday and Sunday. It's not easy to get 2 days off in a row where I work and actually getting a whole weekend off is a VERY rare thing.
Well, it turned out to be a great weekend. Friday afternoon I got to talk for a long time with a close friend I hadn't had a chance to talk with in awhile. Catching up with her was great. Friday evening I went out to dinner with Stacy, Mike, and Vicki. Afterwards Mike and I went to McLaren's and shot some pool. From there I went home and took it easy. I laid in bed for a couple hours and read. I fell asleep holding the book. That's a pretty good way to end an evening.
Saturday I slept very late (woo hoo!) and in the afternoon I went to Ashley's birthday party. It was a lot of fun. At night I went out with Maria and that was a lot of fun, too.
Sunday was mainly about watching football. I went to McLaren's (my favorite bar, for those of you who don't already know that) and watched the Eagles totally kick the 49ers' butts. Great game. I hung at the bar for a few hours with my friends and then went home. At night I just vegged in front of the t.v. and watched the Emmy Awards. It was a pretty good show.
So, I had a weekend filled with friends, family, a date, football, reading, and lots of sleep.
No complaints from me about my weekend!

Ashley turns 2 today!

Yesterday was my brother Ed's birthday and today is his daughter Ashley's birthday. Hard to believe she's already two years old.
Here's a pic of me and her taken this Labor Day. I love this little kid so much. She and her wonderful (and equally beautiful) sister Amber make me one very proud uncle. They're two of the best things in my life. I'm a very lucky guy.

Little Eddie Gott Turns The Big Thirty - ....
Okay, I'm not saying 30-what. My title above was misleading - he's far from little. He's pumped and he knows martial arts. I want to stay on his good side.
Anyway, today is my brother Ed's birthday. I'm about to join him and several others for his birthday dinner at Don Pablo's. I know it'll be a lot of fun.
Happy Birthday, Ed!

Happy Birthday To One Of My Favorite People!
Last month my friend Stacy H. celebrated her birthday. Today my friend Stacy A. celebrates hers.
I've known her just a little under 2 years but she's one of my all-time favorite people. I feel lucky to have her in my life.
So, here's wishing you a very Happy Birthday, Stacy.
I hope it's your best one yet! :-)

Some People Just Shouldn't Be Allowed To Have Kids
I was in my store today and I got a call about a customer whose child was running around knocking things over, etc. The child was just a little girl, she couldn't have been much more than a year and a half old. Her mother totally wasn't paying attention to her. This woman (and I use the word loosely)was horrible. She just kept browsing at items in the store while her daughter did whatever. The mother wasn't even near the little girl most of the time. She just did her own thing and every few minutes she'd occasionally look to see if her daughter was still nearby.
People like her make me sick. That little girl could have hurt herself badly...or worse yet, someone could have snatched her up and done God-knows-what to her.
That woman shouldn't be allowed to have any more kids. Someone should take her to a lab and have her de-egged (sorry, I don't know the technical term.)

Gilligan Is Dead (And I Don't Feel So Good Myself)
Nah, actually I feel pretty okay. However, I was sort of bummed out when I heard that Bob Denver passed away. I loved Gilligan's Island. I still watch it when I get a chance. I even have the 2nd season of it on dvd.
To me, Bob's passing is sort of like when John Ritter and Mr. Rogers passed away. People who I literally grew up watching were suddenly gone and it was a bit of a shock. Yeah, we never actually know these people...but that doesn't mean that they don't mean anything to us. Man, if I counted up all the hours I spent watching those three guys on television...
Thankfully they'll always be with us in reruns. I was just watching Three's Company a few minutes ago and the episode (and especially John Ritter) made me laugh as much as when I first saw it over 20 years ago.
